W. Griep, deputy assessor, arrived home last Saturday from the upper valley where he has been busy for some time assessing migratory sheep. He reports that more sheep than usual are being wintered on the Payette slope and that he has assessed twenty-six bands on the Emmett bench averaging 2000 head. On this side of the river there are about 12,000 being grazed in the valley. Mr. Griep still has several bands to assess in the same section that are not included in this number. There are also several big bands just east of Fruitland in the Willow creek country on the east side of the Payette river which will be assessed by other deputies.
