H. HOGUE’S PLANT AT NEW PLYMOUTH A TOTAL LOSS. PARTIAL COVERED BY INSURANCE. The large packing house and storage building at New Plymouth belonging to F. H. Hogue was a total loss by fire on last Friday evening. While an exact check has not yet been completed, it is a conservative estimate that there were between 18 and 20 car loads of apples in the two buildings that were also a total loss. The fire from an unknown cause broke out in the roof about eight o’clock in the evening while the night crew were at work, and was soon discovered and gallant work with the means at hand was done to save the property but to no avail. Both fire departments from Ontario and Payette responded to the call for help but by the time they arrived it was too late to be much service, except to save other buildings nearby. He loss is estimated at $15,000 to $18,000. The buildings were insured and also some insurance carried on the contents. Mr. Hogue’s operations were only detained for a very short time as he had previously secured space for basket storage in another large packing house and storage which he is now using.
