E. B. F nck (as it appeared in paper) who has a 40,000 acre stock ranch near Kearney, Neb., was in this vicinity for a short time, returning last night. Ira Camet, who formerly resided here and built most of the old brick buildings, was shaking hands with friends yesterday. Mr. Camet has been mining near Shoshone for the past five or six years with good success. Mrs. E. W. Tabor and daughter Agnes, mother and sister of Mrs. L. V. Patch, went to New York last evening. Mrs. C. A. Norton and son Oliver, who have been visiting friends here for a short time, returned to Kearney, Neb., yesterday. John F. Reed is spending a few weeks with his daughter at Seattle. James Darkwood, who has been teaching school near Baker City the past year, was a Payette visitor today. Miss Maud Fouch of Huntington is visiting friends here this week. Shipping of cantaloupes will commence about August 1. The crop is large. Mr. and Mrs. Charles McCannon, Carl Smith and wife and Mrs. McCannon, mother of all, were visiting friends in this vicinity today. Early peaches are coming in and selling at 5 cents per pound. Home raised green corn is selling at 15 cents per dozen.
