Boise Statesman: Frank Anderson of Payette was in the city yesterday. He was on his way home from Contact, Nev., were he is interested in some fine copper properties. He brought some fine specimens of the copper ore back with him, also some remarkable line crystals found in the line formation. The vein from which the copper was taken has been opened at a depth of some 400 feet. It shows a large body of low grade ore and about 18 inches of the high grade. Mr. Anderson and his partner took out a carload of the rich ore and shipped it to Salt Lake, realizing $700 for the lost after paying $15 a ton wagon freight to the railway. Contact is some 75 miles north of Wells. The district is some 20 miles in length and six miles wide. There is a great contact between lime and granite running through the country, and in addition there are many veins in both the lime and the granite. The principal veins carry copper and some gold, but there are some that carry lead-silver ores. The mines of Contact are mostly controlled by Butte people, who do not desire to work them at this time on a large scale.
