A. Coughanour, J. A. Lauer, E. Zimmerman, John Alden and A. E. Wood were nominated for councilmen. The smallpox cases in the pest house are all doing well, two being well enough to be let out and the other will only be kept a few days yet. At the I. O. O. F. hall Wednesday evening the G. T. club was entertained by the young ladies of that society, Misses Lizzie Johnson, Fanny Ewing, May McGlinchy. The room was beautifully decorated and plants in bloom placed in every nook and corner. Partners were found by a novel musical test. Progressive crokinole was the especial game of the evening. The scoring was done by the three young ladies and when the cards were tallied "The Three Bachelors" were a tie. After a prolonged and heated session of the committee, no compromise being possible without severing feminine friendships, the next highest, Professor Albert, was given first favor, Mrs. Ruggles, lady's; second favors, Miss Laure and Arthur Dimmick. After refreshments games were indulged in. C. E. Kirk and A. D. Hale, two of Willow creek's prosperous farmers, were doing business here today. Mrs. C. J. Sherman and daughter spent several days with friends and then returned to their home on Big Willow creek. George Rushhouse of Baker City was calling on old friends today. The latest homeseekers are J. B. Cecil of Salt Lake, J. M. Woodruff of Ogden, Noah Cripe of Manchester, Ind., J. T. Allison, Jr., from Marquey, Texas, and A. W. Winterdale of Union, Ore.
