The chairman was authorized to buy seven gasoline lamps for the purpose of lighting seven places on the streets and all poles and wire needed for hanging them. The ordinance providing for the closing of the saloons on Sunday and at 11:30 at night and prohibiting the sale of liquors to certain persons, passed its second reading. Loading of sugar beets commenced today. Only about 20 tons have been grown here this season. Hon. John T. Morrison of Caldwell is here today on legal business before Justice Thurston. The Whitney and Crispl? case is being tried today in the justice court. A very pleasant and agreeable surprise was given W. F. Breckin by a number of his friends in honor of his birthday at the home of Mrs. Lemp Wednesday. Miss Alma Duncan of Albia, Mo., is visiting here aunt, Mrs. Ralph Henshaw, near town. R. M. Renshaw is building an 8-room residence on his ranch south of Payette. Herman Hinze left on the east bound for Anaconda, Mont., where he has good employment.
