C. Ross Baker of Boise delivered his excellent lecture "Elements of Success" before a good audience in the Christian church last night. Vern Clements who was delivery clerk for the P.V.M. company has been quite sick with pneumonia but at this writing he is reported on the road to recovery. Mr. Mayfield, one of the section men is also confined to his room with the same trouble. The people of the M. E. church will give a Washington supper, February 22, which will be cooked and served by men. The ladies of the Portia club will give another of their excellent entertainments to their husbands and friends in the Oddfellows hall next week. G. L. Hickey and wife, friends of J. M. Bennett of the Oregon Short Line are visiting with Mr. Bennett's family for a few days. Assessor John C. Grisles is making assessments in this vicinity today. D. Jones and wife of London, England, friends of Michael Harris, arrived a few days ago and are enjoying the hospitality of Toole & Harris at their ranch six miles below town. J. F. Streat and family from West Middleton, Ind., have arrived and will plant a large acreage of garden for the market. Mr. Streat has leased ground on the bench.
