H. E. Wallace and family of Caldwell are visiting friends in the city this week. John Alden and family have returned from an outing at the Payette lakes. Thurston & Creighton are putting in the foundation for a large brick building on Boise street. It will be 63x82 feet, with a second story, and will be used as a business house. M. M. Company are laying the brick on their large addition. H. H. McMannis went to Mountainhome on Wednesday evening to attend to some business about his property at that place. William Ireton and N. A. Jacobsen are loading a car of pears today for the east. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin and Mrs. W. G. Whitney returned last night from a visit to the coast. Mrs. Hattie Gilmore went to Baker city yesterday to visit her son Bert. Mrs. W. A. Coughanour entertained a number of young folks Thursday afternoon in honor of Miss Fredericka Chase, who will leave soon for Vassar college. A. Zeller has bought the John Hall land on the bench. Mrs. William Van Doozer is dangerously ill with dropsy. H. H. Sherwood was in town today trying to dispose of his lease on the creamery plant. Mrs. N. A. Jacobsen and daughter have returned from a visit to friends in California. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kidd of Hartwell, Neb., arrived on No 3 today and are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Ackerman. E. B. Long, who was agent at the depot for a week is now sick at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Chapman. C. A. Berry of Nebraska is now ticket agent and day operator at the depot in the place of Mr. Long. D. K. Martin and family are moving to Star, where Mr. Martin has purchased a ranch.
