Plans for the new Methodist church at Payette have been completed by Architect William Noot, and the trustees are now advertising for bids for the construction of the building, which will undoubtedly be one of the finest church edifices in the state. It is believed that the cost of the building when completed will reach in the neighborhood of $4,000 without the seating. As is generally understood, the site for the new church is to be on the corner of Ada avenue and Park street, east of the Payette Valley Mercantile Company’s store and in the same block. The plans, which were shown the Independent by Architect Noot a few days ago, show that the proposed structure is to be in every way a great credit to the city, already noted for its attractive and substantial buildings. The church is to be of the Gothic style of architecture, constructed of brick to the ceiling line, with a tower entirely of brick, and shingled gables. The auditorium is to be of a capacity for seating 250 persons while there is to be a lecture room, so arranged as to be thrown in with the auditorium by opening folding doors, which will have a seating capacity of 100 more. At the rear of the lecture room, there is to be a study for the pastor and a kitchen for use at times of festivals. Below the kitchen, in the basement, there will be a furnace for heating the building with radiators. Plenty of exits are to be provided as there are to be two main entrances in the tower and doors on the south and north. An abundance of light will be insured by large gothic windows, very handsome in appearance.
