The Pleasant View people heartily sympathize with Mr. J. M. Shaw and family in the loss of their home by fire. Hay for the third time is being put up by some of our farmers. Others are going to wait till after the equinoxial storm. Jeff Skaggs fell off a wagon load of fruit in the Whitney orchard last Sunday, breaking one rib and sustaining some bruises. The soft mud saved his life. Pleasant View now sports four or five good foot-racers. The first sprint was from Mr. Melcher's water-melon patch and they started at the sound of the gun. Mr. M. M. Gladdish resigns from the road supervisorship and Mr. Silkett is willing to undertake the herculean task. Mr. Gladdish had made some much- needed improvements but still there is room for work.
