Miss Ema Barney spent part of last week with Miss Zoe Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Will Sturdevant have been enjoying a visit at the Harry home for the past few days. Miss Murphy and Skaggs and Messrs. Hunter and Stegner spent last Saturday evening at A. J. Barney's. Wm. McBride, our popular store-keeper, filed on 160 acres of land, two miles south of New Plymouth, last so we are afraid we can't claim him as a resident much longer. Mr. Carsten has begun on his new route extension and now supplies mail to the following additional families; Messrs. Hunter, Williams, Bowers, D. Stegner, Hoehl, Zellar, Douglass, E. Stegner, Madden, Casey, McConnell, Ewing, Stagg, Young, Hubbard, T. Williams, Russell, C. Warner, Fitch. Master Jay Mackison went to Payette last Saturday and had an operation performed on his cheek bone just below the eye. A lump had formed there containing a sack of putrid matter and had caused swelling over one entire side of his face. Dr. Woodward was the surgeon and Master Jay withstood the operation without the aid of anesthetic. The patient is now doing nicely. The Pleasant View farmers have gotten together on the hay deal. Mr. Zellar has been sent to Portland to get all possible information about markets at the other end. It is probable, if this trip results favorably, the farmers will buy a hay baler and husband to as great an extent as possible the profits of their crops. Mr. McConnell, one of our residents, is an experienced hay baler. Messrs. Dan and J. C. O'Brien, of Erie, Pennsylvania, brothers of Mrs. T. R. Hubbard, accompanied by a friend. Mr. Arthur Mosher, are out from Erie, Pennsylvania, for a visit. They find great sport in shooting jack-rabbits, and come in each night with a wagon-load of the "inferior" game. The gentlemen will visit Spokane, Portland and California before returning home.
