R. Field Appointed Deputy for this Horticultural District, Martin Having Resigned. State Horticultural Inspector A. McPherson has appointed as deputy inspector for this district J. R. Field, the enterprising young orchardist of New Plymouth, J. M. Martin of Emmett having resigned from the position on account of ill health. The appointment is made subject to confirmation by the state board, which is expected to act upon the matter within the near future. Mr. Field informs the Independent that he expects to enter upon his new duties the first of next week, as it is time somebody should be in the field in order to wage successful war on the pests of this season. The appointment of Mr. Field comes as a decided compliment to his ability after what was said about the matter of securing a deputy for this district, which comprises the entire Payette Valley and Boise county, by Inspector McPherson while visiting Payette last week for the purpose of finding a suitable man for the position. His words were as follows: “It is my purpose to secure for this work, of such importance to our great fruitgrowing industry, men who are young, active and thoroughly efficient in every way, and who are willing to make a study of it to the end that the product turned out from Idaho’s orchards shall be without blemish and unexcelled.” File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/id/payette/newspapers/plymouth199gnw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/idfiles/ File size: 2.1 Kb
