Receipts for 1938 totaled $23,874.22 as compared to $22,229.02 for 1938 (9). The greater portion of this loss in post office revenues occurred during the months of May, June and July of last year and the last quarter of the year reached a figure within $126 o the previous year. December 1939 showed an increase over the same month of 1938 by a total of $116.82. Stamp collections showed a high peak during December 1939 with 11,185, while the high mark for December 1938 was 9860. During the year 1939 the local postoffice issued 17,206 domestic money orders amounting to $144,688.87 and paid 4013 domestic orders totaling $44,423.01. During the year $146,373 was issued in postal savings certificates and paid $166,164 under the same classification. Interest on postal savings paid during the year amounted to $3348.84.
