The Boise Statesman says: J. B. Burns of Payette has made a proposal to the fair directors towards which they are favorably inclined. Mr. Burns is a pigeon fancier and in his loft are many homing pigeons of aristocratic pedigree. He would like to test the speed of his birds and offers to bring a number of them to Boise to be liberated daily at the fair grounds. By stationing a timer at the home loft in Payette the speed of the birds could be ascertained. The distance from Boise to Payette, as the birds fly, is about 50 miles, and Mr. Burns believes his homers could make it in faster time than the “Canon Ball.” He suggests that three or four birds be liberated each day during fair week. The birds could be numbered and the speed attained by each determined.
