PUBLIC SCHOOL OPENING
 
The Payette public schools will open for the year on Monday, September 16.  
Since there will be no mid-year entering class in January, all children who 
will be six years of age before January 1, 1918, will be received when school 
opens in September.  It is important that all pupils shall enroll on the 
opening day of school.
 
Commercial Course in High School.
 
In Addition to the vocational course which have been offered and proved so 
successful for several years, the Board of Education has added for this year 
an unusually strong program of commercial work.  Mr. E. C. Payne who gave a 
night course so efficiently last year had been engaged to conduct commercial 
department in the high school.  He will offer two courses.  One will include 
commercial arithmetic, commercial law, business forms, and bookkeeping and the 
other will include shorthand and typewriting.  This is another step in the 
direction of supplying that education which not only gives scholarship, but 
also prepares for citizenship in relation to life work.
