READING ROOM NOW ASSURED

Library Association Formed Monday Night and Further Steps To Be Taken Soon.

At the mass meeting held in the Elite opera house Monday evening, a library 
association was organized, in accordance with the purpose for which the meeting 
was called, and that Payette is to have a good free reading room is now 
practically assured.  The meeting was well attended and the marked degree of 
interest displayed by all present augurs well for the success of the 
undertaking.  Mayor Satoris presided and Miss Clara Wood acted as temporary 
secretary.

It was decided that the name of the new organization shall be the Payette Free 
Library Association.  The following officers were elected:

President-F. H. Cram, Jr.
Vice President-Mrs. Will Wells.
Secretary-Mrs. J. D. Bird.
Treasurer-Miss Clara Woods.

A committee was appointed to draft a constitution and by-laws and to report at 
another mass meeting to be held Monday night, Nov. 30.  The place of this 
meeting was to have been in the Elite opera house again, but since the meeting 
last Monday it has been learned that the opera house could not be secured for 
that night so it has been decided to hold it in the Christian church instead.  
Everybody is cordially invited to be present and it is expected that there will 
be a large attendance as a deep interest in the movement has been evinced by a 
great many of Payette’s citizens, who rightfully look upon it as one to be 
heartily commended and given every encouragement.
