But it was not realized to the extent this work was to be carried on until yesterday when 20 cars arrived with boarding equipment and a big number of workmen. Eight of these cars are stationed here while 12 occupy Buckingham siding, a mile or so east of Fruitland. For some time past the Eiffe siding, just west of town has been rapidly filling up with every imaginable kind of supplies and equipment to be used in the complete reconstruction of the road. Among the material now arriving are the supplies to be used for the telegraph line. There is now only the distance between Fruitland and New Plymouth to lay heavy steel when that part of the work will be finished up. However, it is authoratively stated that general rebuilding will continue all along the line until the road is put in thorough main line shape. Considerable changes have also been made at the depot in the way office fixtures, etc., until, under the supervision of Agent McDonald, it is rapidly assuming the appearance of a bustling city station.
