The following local paragraphs from the Bison (Kans.) Bee, of Feb. 24, regarding H. R. Ficken, who recently came to Payette from Bison, with his family, and purchased the business of the Thompson Lumber Company, will be of interest to his new neighbors in this community. ”H. R. Ficken returned Friday last from Payette, Idaho, where he bought a large lumber yard and 40 acres of ground. He sold his interest in the lumber and grain business here to Fred Humburg, his partner, and they will leave next week for their new home. Mr. Ficken has been very prosperous in business here, but the western climate is considered better for his wife’s health and they therefore make this move. They still retain possession of their home and one hundred acres of land. “On Tuesday there was a memorable gathering at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Ficken. All their relatives—parents, brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces— came to visit them before their departure for Idaho. Sila Fairbanks took a picture of the group, which contained between fifty and seventy-five persons.” File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/id/payette/newspapers/regardin374gnw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/idfiles/ File size: 1.8 Kb
