Ida Chase, the women who conducts the house of ill fame near the wagon bridge, still manages to evade her just deserts in the courts. Tried and convicted last week at Caldwell on a charge of conducting a house of prostitution, she was found guilty and sentenced to pay a fine of $125 and costs, amounting in all to about $200, but the case being appealed, the sentence was set aside the first of this week by Judge Stewart on technical grounds. It is not probable, however, that the prosecution against the woman will end with this, as the great majority of Payette citizens are thoroughly determined to rid the community of the presence of the woman and her disreputable establishment.
