Messrs. Smith and Bannister, while boring for artesian water on Sucker creek, a tributary of Little Willow, about 25 miles above Payette, struck hot water at a depth of 500 feet, which spurted up 18 feet from an inch and a quarter pipe. At a depth of 300 feet the drill passed through a four foot vein of what appeared to be a good quality of coal. These gentlemen were in Payette Monday and had J. A. Lauer order 200 feet more of pipe. They propose going to a depth of 700 feet while they are about it, and feel confident that their efforts will be rewarded. The well is being sunk on the ranch of Little Bros.
