E. E. Earley, a switchman in the employ of the O. R. & N. Co., was run over by the cars in the Huntington yards at 8 o’clock last Friday evening, and received injuries from which he died the next morning. Earley was at work near the freight depot and was engaged in cutting off cars, placing some on one track and some on another. He was walking in front of the moving cars to arrange the coupling apparatus when his foot got caught in a frog, and before he could extricate himself four cars passed over him. His right leg was cut off at the hip joint and the abdomen was laid open. Dr. Spencer being out of town, Earley was taken to Baker City on a special train and placed in the hospital, where he died the next morning. The accident took place within 100 feet of where C. M. Daly was killed in a similar manner sixteen months ago.
