W. Ruse for Sheriff. Under the proper heading in today’s INDEPENDENT will be found the announcement of S. W. Ruse of Payette, as a candidate for the office of sheriff. While Mr. Ruse does not so state, it is nevertheless a well-known fact that he has been urged to this decision by a large number of influential Republicans in this and other portions of the county. To those who know him it is needless to say that he is well qualified for the performance of every duty that would devolve upon the responsible position to which he aspires. He has filled similar positions of trust. He was for three years U. S. marshal for the Eastern district of Nevada, served as deputy under three sheriffs during their official terms in Humbolt county, Nevada, and still has in his possession a splendid testimonial, signed by the district judge, every county officer, bankers, lawyers and business men of Winnemucca, and given without solicitation of his part, at the time of his departure for Idaho, some ten years ago. Mr. Ruse has followed the blacksmithing business in this city, for nine or ten years, enjoys a large acquaintance in this part of the county, and is a man who makes friends readily and will be strong with the people wherever he goes. The Republicans of Canyon county will make no mistake if they nominate S. W. Ruse as their candidate for Sheriff.
