The Moscow Agricultural Experiment station is going to put in an experiment station at Payette this coming season to determine the cause of the tomato blight which was so ruinous to that vegetable last year. This new enterprise is being brought about through the efforts of L. V. Patch, who has been devoting considerable time to the matter and we are glad to say with such good results. Men sent to Payette from Moscow will put in the crop and the fertilizers and everything needed for the experiment will be furnished by the Moscow station, and then the crop will be placed in the care of Mr. Patch. If the cause of the tomato blight can be found and prevented it will be of great benefit to the Payette Valley in more ways than one. It will not only add another extensive list of vegetables which can be grown so profitably here, but it is almost an absolute necessity that the cannery, in order to secure the best markets, should have a good home-grown tomatoes for canning purposes, and the success of the cannery means much to the vegetable and fruit growers of the valley.
