Payette, May 6th, 1884 LEADER: Our little town still lives through the dull season, and as arrangements have been completed to-day for one of the finest saw mills in Idaho to be erected here, it looks as though we will weather the storm. Messrs. Phillip Frame & Co. have superseded Mr. Goldtrap in the milling business, as that gentleman was a little trady in his movements in regard to beginning operations in Payette as he anticipated doing. First come, first served at Payette, so look out and do not get left. The machinery will be unloaded at Payette on the 8th instant, for a large saw mill, shingle mill, planer, & c., all being new and as complete an outfit as can be found in the territory. The company have completed arrangements to saw the logs now being delivered in Coe & Carter’s boom, about 6000 in all. This being part of the drive made by Messrs. Coe & Carter to the railroad last season. The milling company propose putting about one million feet of logs on their own account. (Tally one for Boomerang.) Nothing has transpired of any importance since our landlord, Mr. David S. Lamb, turned his boarders out on the range, when Mr. W. R. Smith, the new landlord, succeeded in corralling and branding the greater portion of them, only a few escaping. Mr. Lamb enters the ring as a merchant at Boomerang. All wish him success. Yours, BOOMERANG. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/id/payette/newspapers/toweiser455gnw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/idfiles/ File size: 2.1 Kb
