Since my last our little city has donated cash enough to build a fine school house, and the carpenter’s hammers are now playing tunes on nails putting it up. Messrs. King, Gorrie and Moss were appointed building committee, and they are sending work along at a fearful rate. It is feared (by some of the small boys) that the school house will be ready for business inside of a week. Donations in money and work have been liberal. The committee succeeded in jumping two good lots in Boomerang for school house purposes. The patrons of the school are fortunate in securing a thoroughly competent teacher, as we understand they have secured the services of the Rev. Alex McPherson, of Visalia, California, for the coming winter’s school. He comes highly recommended from California, having a life diploma from the state board of education; also local recommendations. This is doing much toward settling and making our town permanent and supplying a want long felt by the parents of the numerous children in the neighborhood. Among other improvements of late is Drury’s residence. Mr. J. F. Reed’s drug store is about ready for opening, and he is putting lumber on the ground for a good substantial store and residence. Messrs. Phillips, Frame & Co. have located and started a lumber yard. These, with various minor improvements, make the burg look quite lively. The railroad company are working quite a force on the tie yard taking out ties for the front and places east. More anon, BOOMERANG.
