We have no boom here, but I expect you have heard that already. No boom, no mill at present, but our town still grows a little day by day, and gains in business and in hope. The Leader will soon have a branch office in Payette. Among the latest improvements are Conyers’ new blacksmith shop, an addition to Hotel De Smith, a cellar and warehouse for the hotel, a new front on the Moss Brothers’ store, a new ditch bringing the water in the town from the main ditch, an addition to Brown & Bank’s O. S. L., and Dr. F. B. Delano settling among us with a little stock of drugs, medicines, & c. We counted the cars of lumber for a while from the Weiser mill, but that flat car goes up and down so often we can’t count it and got mixed up, or Steve’s drinks got mixed, I don’t know which. We hear you have the assurance of the depot. That pleases us. Just as it should be. Doc Williams’ “little dude” was up to see us; keep him, Doc, we don’t want him. More anon. BOOMERANG.
