A committee of prominent citizens of that place were in the city last night and had a conference with R. M. Cobban, when he agreed that more thorough examination should be made of the reservoir capacity at Payette, and that his firm would make no definite arrangements for Emmett till this is concluded. The committee was composed of Peter Pence, A. B. Moss, N. A. Jacobson, Burt Venable, Henry Helmick and A. E. Wood. They are all quartered at the Overland. Little could be gleaned of the actual business transacted last evening, except that the gentlemen stated the reservoir at Payette was a natural site, of large capacity and certainly better than any upon the river. One of them stated to a reporter that this fact was demonstrated by observation and investigation. They want the mill at Payette, and, inasmuch as they believe they have the best site, they see no reason why it should not come to them. Another conference will be held today, when W. F. Cobban, who has been in the Payette lakes section for the past 10 days, will be present, and when more definite arrangements will be made. The members of the committee stated last night that they now have no doubt of securing the big mill for Payette.
