Adams of Ontario, Ore., had closed a deal for two lots on Eighth street upon which to build a fine auto garage. The site is the 60 feet adjoining the corner of the block opposite the Gorham Mercantile Company's building. One of the lots was secured through an exchange of lots by Mr. Adams with Henry Feldscher, the other one being that donated by H. E. Dunn to the citizens' committee which had in charge the matter of raising funds with which to purchase the site for the $50,000 hotel building which is now being erected by Mr. Dunn and his associates. The garage building is to cover 60 x 140 feet, is to be of brick, with pressed brick and plate glass front and will be modern in every particular. It will be equipped with a steam heating plant, cold and hot water, drop pits and electric lifts and all other conveniences to be found in connection with a first class building of its character. The cost of the building will be about $7.000, while Mr. Adams' total investment will exceed $10,000. W. H. Huff, the well-known Payette contractor, who will have charge of the work, is already engaged in moving the big warehouse with its contents belonging to J. A Lauer & Bro., to the Feldscher lot immediately north of the Payette Townsite Company's building, and construction of the new garage building will immediately follow the clearing of the grounds. The building will be occupied by Messrs. Dufeur & Walling, of Ontario, who have the reputation of being not only men of large experience in their line, as salesmen and managers, but expert mechanics who know the business thoroughly in its every detail. It is expected to have the building completed ready for occupancy within 60 days. Mr. Adams was until recently, one of the largest lumber dealers of this section, being at the head of the Empire Lumber company, which made a sale of its years at Payette, Ontario, Nyssa and Vale last January to the Boise- Payette Lumber company. He was formerly a resident of Payette and while for several years past his main interests have been at Ontario and elsewhere, he has always kept in close touch with the growth and development of this city and the surrounding country and has had an abiding faith in their future.
