The boy has been working for James Galloway, in Washington county, whose place is about four miles up Man creek. Friday afternoon Willie rode down to the mouth of the creek to visit an aunt, where he remained until late in the afternoon. It was supposed by Mr. Galloway that the boy had concluded to stay over night at his aunt’s and uneasiness was felt for him. Early Saturday morning he was found by the roadside with a ghastly wound on the head, from which brains were oozing out. He had lain there in this pitiful condition all night, but life remained, and the little fellow was carried home and tenderly cared for. At last reports hopes were entertained for his recovery. Additional Comments: (Willie A. Monroe died May 11, 1896, and is buried at the Galloway cemetery at Mann Creek, by the old Tom Galloway place.)
