When first taken to Boise it was not thought his injuries would result fatally but examination proved that while in the steam filled car he had inhaled sufficient hot steam as to make his recovery doubtful. On Friday a telephone call was sent to Mrs. Asmussen and she went at once to Boise to be with her husband. He passed away about four o’clock that afternoon after having patiently suffered intense pain from his external and internal injuries. The remains were brought to Payette Saturday and on Wednesday services were conducted at the Sweedish Lutheran church by Rev. Tester of Ogden and interment was made in the Riverside cemetery. The large crowd attending the services and the beautiful floral offerings were mute testimony of the esteem in which the deceased was held. To know Henry Asmussen was to respect him. Quiet by nature he was thought by some to be unapproachable but beneath that quiet exterior was a sterling integrity and cordial disposition that won for him the friendship of all who came in social or business contact with him.
