Cattleman Ernie Asmussen Taken by Death
 
Prominent Payette rancher Ernest E. (Ernie) Asmussen, 70, died last Wednesday 
at Holy Rosary hospital, following a brief illness.  He had been rushed to the 
hospital, suffering from a heart attack earlier.
 
He was born October 4, 1895, here and married Kathe Diedrichsen June 2, 1921.  
He lived his entire life in the Payette community and was a member of the 
United Church of Christ, Elks Lodge, Farm Bureau and the Idaho State 
Cattlemen's Association.
 
Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Carolea Wacker of Bend, 
Ore.; two brothers, Harry and Lester Asmussen, both of Payette; two sisters, 
Mrs. Lucia Asmussen of Wendell and Mrs. Marguerite Newman of Eugene, Ore.; and 
two granddaughters.
 
Services were conducted Saturday at the United Church of Christ in Payette 
with the Rev. Charles Gill officiating.  Interment followed at Riverside 
cemetery.
