Robert E. Belknap
 
Services for Robert E. Belknap, 86, of Payette, who died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 
1984 in an Ontario hospital were conducted Monday in Shaffer-Jensen Chapel, 
Payette, with Rev. Herb Christensen and Rev. A. E. Rainwater of the Assembly 
of God Church of Payette officiating.  Interment followed in Riverside 
Cemetery, Payette.
 
He was born Oct. 20, 1897, at Knappa, Ore., the son of Edward and Corniella 
Belknap.  He moved with his parents in the early 1900's to the Oregon Slope.  
He married Stella Newton on March 19, 1922 in Payette.  They made their home 
on the Oregon Slope where he was engaged in ranching.  He later operated a 
transfer and dray business, then worked for many years at the Van Petten 
Lumber Company in the warehouse.  They have made their home in Payette for 59 
years.  He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Payette where he had 
served as Sunday School superintendent.
 
Survivors include his wife, Stella, of Payette; a son, Howard Belknap of Nez 
Perce, Idaho; a daughter, Mrs. Bill (Virginia) Hellinga of Payette; seven 
grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two 
sisters, a brother, a grandson and a great grandson.
