M. Bivens Rites Held on Wednesday Funeral services were held from the Baptist church Wednesday afternoon for W. M. Bivens who died at the Holy Rosary hospital at Ontario Monday. Rev. C. M. Strong will officiate and burial will be in Riverside cemetery with the Landon funeral home in charge. William Moore Bivens was born at Union, Oregon, May 28, 1866. His parents, David Moore Bivens and Honor J. Bivens were born in Missouri and crossed the plains in 1862 and settled near Union, Oregon. In the fall of 1867 they moved to Weiser and in the spring of 1868 they settled in the Payette Valley. In 1892, he was married to Ada Elizabeth Jackson at Falks Store. To this union four children were born, Mrs. Sam Applegate and Walker Bivens, both of Payette, Ashley H. Bivens of McCall and Elwood M. Bivens of Boise. His wife passed away in Payette, April 5, 1915, and on Nov. 27, 1917 he was married to Georgiana Ludwig at Payette who also survives. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. R. B. Emerson of Berkeley, Cal., and seven grandchildren. Mrs. Emerson arrived Wednesday, May 1, to be at the bedside. As a young man he was united with the Payette Baptist church and was a faithful worker and attendant as long as he was able.
