BLACKBURN FRUITLAND - Benjamin H. Blackburn, 89, of Fruitland, died Thursday at a Boise hospital. Services were conducted Monday at 2 p.m., at the Fruitland Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, by Bishop Chad Clark. Interment followed in Rosedale Memorial Gardens at Payette, under the direction of Payette Chapel of the Roses. He was born Oct. 16, 1889, at Florence, Kan. to George and Minnie Blackburn. He married Kleo Wixom Aug. 14, 1929, at Soda Springs. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple of the LDS Church. He served in the Army during World War I, and was a mechanic for the Idaho Highway Department. He moved to Fruitland in 1945, where he was a refrigerator engineer for Ore-Ida Inc. He was a member of the LDS Church, Weiser High Prienst Quorum, Veterans of World War I and Disabled American Vets. Surviving are his wife of Fruitland; a son, Alan R. of Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter, Mrs. Mickey (Carol Jean) Hewitt of Maui, Hawaii; a brother, Earl of Ontario, Ore.; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Cambell of Soda springs; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
