J. Carter Neighbors of Mrs. W. J. Carter in the White Settlement community and other friends in large numbers attended funeral services for her, conducted Tuesday afternoon in the Peterson chapel. Ill since February, she died Sunday morning, May 20, at her home. Rev. Bart, Baptist minister at Boise who had been a pastor at Fruitland when Mrs. Carter lived there as a girl, was in charge of the services. Myrtle Eunice Flegner (Stegner) was born in Minnesota October 28, 1900, and came to Fruitland while still an infant with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Flegner (Stegner). She was married to W. J. Carter of New Plymouth and they moved to the White Settlement in 1932. She is survived by her parents, a sister, Mrs. Sam McBride of Oregon Slope; two sons, Staff Sgt. Donald E. Carter who was here for the funeral, and Ensign Lyle Carter who is now in China, and a step-son, Vernon, who was present for the funeral.
