CARTWRIGHT ANSWERS LAST CALL It is with regret that we must record the passing of another of Payette's pioneer residents, Maria Elizabeth Sutter was born February 8, 1859, in Lee County, Ill., she passed away at her home in Payette May 23, 1933 at the age of 74 years, 3 months and 15 days. She moved with her parents to Ames, Iowa and on January 25, 1882 was married to John William Cartwright. They made their home in Boone, Iowa where four daughters and one son were born, all of whom who survive except Harry the son who died in 1913. The family moved to Laurens, Iowa in 1892, coming on to Payette in 1905, where they have resided since. Mrs. Cartwright leaves to mourn her passing her husband John Cartwright, four daughters, Mrs. George Wilson, Mrs. John Clanton, Mrs. Alice Powell, Mrs. Jess Wells, twelve grand children and one great grand daughter, three sisters, Mr. James Hotzell of San Bernardino, California, Mrs. James Beedle, Hastings, Nebraska, Mrs. Rolly Troup of Hutchinson, Kansas, three brothers, Levi Sutter of Hastings, Nebraska, Frank Sutter, Kelly Iowa, and Pete Sutter of Lincoln, Nebraska, besides a host of friends here in Payette. She was a member of the Brethren church, where funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock.
