P. Christensen who died at her home in Payette, Wednesday, February 6, 1935, were held at the Landon Funeral Home Sunday at 2 P.M. Rev. J. Raymond Fife officiating. Mrs. Kritz and Mrs. Lathrop sang two beautiful duets, "Down the Valley One by One" and "Over There," accompanied by Mrs. C. C. Springstun. The four sons of the deceased served as pallbearers thus rendering the last tender care that could be administered by loving hands. Interment was made at the Riverside Cemetery. Alma Rebecca Russell was born near Rochester, Minn., May 27, 1859 where she spent her girlhood. She was married to Jens Peter Christensen, October 27, 1879 at Casson, Minn. They went immediately to the home he had prepared for her on his homestead near Marshall, Minnesota. They lived there for 34 years, raising a family of ten children. They moved to Payette in 1913 where they have resided since. She is survived by her husband; four sons, Ray and Roy of Payette; Fred of Emmett, and Earl of Harbor City, California, six daughters; Mrs. Fred Amundson of Minnesota, Mrs. Claude Ensign of Pasadena, California, Mrs. Mounie Olson, Mrs. Chas. Johnson, Mrs. George Skippen and Miss Floss Christensen of Payette, Idaho. There are 25 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, three brothers, Ralph Russell of Bethel, Minn., John and Alonzo of Elkhart, Indiana, three sisters; Mrs. Maude Webb and Mrs. John Baker of Bethel, Minn., and Mrs. Alvin Wilson of Modesto, California. Mrs. Christensen was a faithful wife and mother thoughtful for others comfort before her own. She was a very capable manager of her home raising her large family without the aid of doctors, nurses or medicine. She was well known for her hospitality and in her active younger days made her home a place of enjoyment where the young folks of the community loved to congregate. Her parents were pioneers of Minn. and she had the distinction of being the first white child born in Olmstead County of which Rochester is the county seat. In 1917 she fell breaking her hip from which she never fully recovered and has been compelled to use crutches. Although she was always an active and ambitious woman she accepted her misfortune with fortitude. She has been in ill health for some time and an attack of the flu about her frail constitution to withstand three weeks ago was too much for. She was reared in a Christian home where righteousness was exalted. A teaching that has stayed with her throughout the years. In raising her own family she taught that "Right is Might" and truth was to be honored above all things. She lived a life complete in its love and devotion and at the end passed quietly on surrounded by loved one, thus beautifully ending the story.
