Clement, well known in Payette and other cities of South-western Idaho, passed away at his residence in Ontario on Thursday morning, January 8th at the age of seventy four years. He came to Idaho in 1881 locating on a homestead at Washoe where he lived with his family until 1894 at which time he moved to Ontario. Mr. Clement assisted in laying out the townsite of Payette and at one time was engaged in the lumber business on an extensive scale in Weiser, Payette and Ontario. He enjoyed the best of health until about four months ago when he began to fail rapidly. A large circle of warm friends in Payette and Ontario will regret his passing. The funeral was held at his residence on Sunday afternoon, the Rev. B. L. Milligan having charge. The Odd Fellows of Payette and Ontario had charge of the services at the cemetery.
