D. B. Coates Dies Thursday Morning
 
The whole community was shocked and saddened when they learned of the sudden 
death of D. B. Coates, a pioneer of this city.  Mr. Coates passed away early 
this morning at his home on 3rd Avenue North, just ten days before his eighty-
second birthday.  No funeral arrangements have as yet been made, pending word 
from several children.  The body is at the Peterson-Foster Funeral home.  The 
deceased, who came here in 1882, is survived by his wife, six sons, and three 
daughters.  Complete obituary will appear in next week's issue of the 
Independent-Enterprise.
