Deceased was born in McLain county, Ill., Sept. 17, 1857, and in May 1882 accompanied a wagon caravan from Odgen, Utah to Boise. Mrs. Coates was married to the late Daniel B. Coates, on Sept. 17, 1892 and shortly thereafter the couple moved to Payette, which at that time was known as Boomerang and she has resided in this community almost continuously since that time. Mr. and Mrs. Coates observed their 62nd wedding anniversary shortly prior to the death of the former on Nov. 12, 1942. Two sisters of the deceased, Mrs. Lulu Eberle, of Payette, and Mrs. Rose Wyman of Spokane, Washington passed away last week. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Clark of Erskine, Alberta, Canada, and Mrs. Rosa Davis of San Jose, Cal.; six sons, George of New Plymouth, and Albert, Earl, Clarence and Howard, all of Payette, and LeRoy of Newberg, Ore.; one sister, Mrs. Josie Young of Redmond, Ore.; 27 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
