Thomas Earl Evans
 
Services for Thomas "Tom" Earl Evans, 29, of Payette, who died Jan. 19, 1984, 
in a Boise hospital, were conducted Monday at the First United Methodist 
Church, Payette, with the Rev. Robert Hefty of the Methodist Church and the 
Rev. Joan LaLiberte of St. James' Episcopal Church officiating.  Interment 
followed at Riverside Cemetery, Payette, with flag presentation by the Payette 
Police Department.  Final rites were under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen 
Chapel, Payette.
 
He was born on Nov. 24, 1954, at Boise, the son of Ralph and Clois Evans.  He 
was reared and educated in Emmett graduating from high school there in 1973.  
He began working for the Payette County Sheriff's Department in 1975.  He 
attended and graduated from the Idaho Peace Officers Standards and Training 
Academy in Pocatello, and began work with the Payette Police Department in 
June 1977.  He married Anne Masingill on March 25, 1978, at Payette.  He was 
appointed detective by the department in 1981 and received the Payette 
Jaycees' officer of the year award the same year.  He recently received 
advanced certification by the police academy.
 
He was a member of the Payette Lions Club.
 
He is survived by his wife, Anne, Payette; his parents, Ralph and Clois Evans 
of Emmett; his maternal grandmother and maternal stepgrandfather, Ruby and 
Glen Lionberger of Boise; his paternal stepgrandmother, Lauri Evans of 
Meridian; a brother, Bruce, Emmett and a sister, Lorie Lingel, Middleton.
 
The family suggests memorials to the Payette Police Department in care of the 
chapel.
