Franklin NEW PLYMOUTH - Services for Herbert Ernest Franklin, 85 of Soap lake, Wash., formerly of New Plymouth, were conducted Tuesday at Shaffer-Jensen Chapel, New Plymouth, by Pastor Rod Tegethoff, New Plymouth Church of Nazarene. Interment followed in Parkview Cemetery, New Plymouth. Franklin, who died Thursday in a Spokane hospital, was born Nov. 1894 at Tonganoxie, Kan. He was reared and educated in Kansas. He moved to Oklahoma in 1912. He married Marie Sweet at Taloga, Oakla., on Nov. 24, 1917. They moved to Payette County in 1932 where they lived until 1954, when they moved to Brea, Calif. In 1976, they moved to Soap Lake. He was a member of the Veterans of World War I, the New Plymouth American Legion Post and the Christian Church of Brea. Surviving are his wife of Soap Lake; two sons, H. Ernest of Tacoma, Wash., and Wayne of Soap Lake; a daughter, Byrdene Carpenter of Soap Lake; three sisters, Violet Lamm of Morland, Oakla., Mabel Shryock of Woodward, Oakla., and Elsie Culp of Yakima, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters and a great-granddaughter. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
