Franklin, 88, one of Payette County's few survivors of the Civil War passed away in Payette Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bruce Knight. He has made his home with his daughter the past nine years. Funeral services were held for him at the Methodist church of which he was a member. The Rev. C. O. Heath was in charge. Mrs. E. B. Knight, a daughter left with the body for Watertown, S.D., where he will be buried beside his wife, who passed away December 14, 1918. Members of the American Legion and Spanish War Veterans, Nelson A. Miles camp formed a guard of honor at the train. Mr. Franklin was a member of the G.A.R. being in the service for the North during the Civil War.
