'Jim' Franklin James P. "Jim" Franklin, 67, Payette, died May 8, 1997 at home. Services were 1:30 p.m. May 10 at the First Christian Church, Payette, with Dan Parks officiating. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery, Payette. He was born Oct. 29, 1929, in Kooskia, Idaho. He married Bessie Hawkins in Boise Dec. 11, 1949. Before moving to Payette, Jim also lived in Parma. Jim retired from Idaho Power in 1986. He served in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Republican Party. Jim was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, horses and dogs. He was a dedicated family man and loved his family dearly. Survivors include his wife, Bessie; his children, Jeannie Burton of Portland, Dena Pollock of New Plymouth, Dorothy Davidson of Caldwell, Joyce Smith of Puyallup, Wash. and Jim Franklin of Payette; his sisters, Juanita Walters of LaGrande, Bonna Clary of Caldwell, Trulla Carrow of Caldwell and 12 grand children. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ileta Parrott and a grandson Paul Burton.
