Until her illness five years ago Mrs. Hanigan was active in many community and church organizations. She was active in the Catholic Women’s League and had served as its president. She was also an officer in the Idaho Catholic Women’s League and was organist for the church choir. She served as Chairman of the county blood program for several years and was past-president of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Hanigan was born in Falk Nov. 26, 1897 and was married to John Hanigan Aug. 3, 1922, at Weiser. She is survived by her husband, two sons, Robert and Richard who are in business with their father in Payette; a daughter, Mrs. La Donna Estes, Boise; three brothers, Herman Carstens, Boise, August D. Carstens, St. John’s, Wash., and Edward A. Carstens, Payette; two sisters, Mrs. Emma S. Ferber, Woodland, Wash., and Mrs. Ellen Browning, Boise, and 12 grandchildren. Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Monday at the Shafer Chapel in Payette and a solemn high requiem mass with four priests was celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic church. Rev. T. C. Halpin officiated. Interment was at St. John’s in Ontario.
