Services were 10 a.m. July 31 at the First United Methodist church, Payette. The Rev. David A Stewart of the First United Methodist church, Payette, officiated. Burial followed at Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth, under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. She was born Nov. 19, 1925, at Scott City, Kan., a daughter of G. F. and Ada B. McReynolds. The family moved to Monument, Colo., in 1926. There she received her primary and secondary education. She attended Colorado State College of Education and taught several years in the primary grades. She also acted as a substitute teacher in New Plymouth and Payette after moving to Idaho. She married Charles Higby on Dec. 23, 1946, at Monument, Colo. They moved to Greenland, Colo., where they owned and operated the Greenland Land and Cattle Co. They sold this ranch and moved to Payette in 1977 where the Higby ranch has been a family operation since. She was a member of Theta Sigma Epsilon sorority, an originating member of Douglas County Young Farmers and Homemakers, past matron of Martha Chapter O.E.S., a member of the National Child Protection Team of the University of Colorado Medical Center, a member of PEO, and a committee person of the Republican Party for 30 years. She was a member of the Monument Presbyterian Church, Monument, Co., and the First United Methodist Church, Payette. Emmie never met a person of whom she couldn't make a friend. Survivors include her husband, Charles of Payette; two sons and daughters-in- law, Charles Pat and Lisa and their children, Jared and Bradley, and Louis Mac and JoAnn and their sons, Riley and Kelly, all of Payette; a daughter and son- in-law, Pamela K. and Michael Wissenbach and their daughter, Sarah, all of Boise; two sisters, June Hovde of Boulder, Colo., and Thula Ashbaugh of Colorado Springs, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorials may be made to Mountain States Tumor Institute or to the First United Methodist Church, Payette, in care of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O.
