On Monday last Mr. George E. Hildreth was suddenly taken ill while doing some carpenter work at the store of Moss Bros. He was found in a fainting condition by some of his friends, who took him to his home, where he was seen by Dr. Stevenson, who pronounced the case as one of congestion of the lungs. Notwithstanding all his efforts, Hildreth expired in less than three hours after the first attack. Deceased, who was born at West Windham, N. H., on the 16th of May, 1854, came here from Baker City, Ore., three years ago, and universally respected by all who came in contact with him. He leaves a wife and three children to mourn his loss, was great sympathy is felt for them. Mr. Hildreth was a K. of P. and a member of the Wamesit Lodge No. 25, at Lowell, Mass. The local lodge of the order conducted the impressive funeral, which took place from his late residence at 11 a.m., on Wednesday. The procession moved to the M. E. church, where the funeral service was held, and from there to the new cemetery north of town, where the body was interred in the presence of a large number of friends.
