Hillis had been a resident of Fruitland and New Plymouth vicinity for the past six years. With Hillis was his son, Norman who was severely cut and was taken to the Baker hospital for treatment. They were trying to avoid hitting two boys who were riding bicycles along the highway. Mr. Hillis was employed by the Farmers Ditch Company as a ditch rider. He came to the United States at the age of 18 from Antrum, Ireland, where he was born in 1889. He was a member of the Presbyterian church. Surviving are his wife and seven children, Mrs. Margaret, Hall, Nettie, Norman, Frances, Edith, Zrain and Lois all of New Plymouth. Funeral services were held from the First Baptist church at New Plymouth, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
