The death of their oldest child came as a surprise to her parents, they having no knowledge of her illness until the receipt of a telegram stating that she was on the point of death. The end came before her mother could reach her bedside. The remains were brought to this city and interred in Riverside Cemetery. Services were conducted by Prof. Rieger. The cause of death was diphtheria, and she was sick less than a week. The deceased was a particularly bright and attractive child, of good standing to her studies and among her classmates, and her loss is a severe blow to parents and friends alike.
