He was in the engineering service at the time he was wounded. He was born in Germany and came to this country at the age of nine in company with his sister Mrs. Senkbel, who was then eleven years old, and two smaller brothers, and one year later moved to Payette with the other members of the family and attended the west side school,13 years ago left Payette and moved to the state of Washington, where he enlisted in the engineering service leaving for France about two months ago, where he gave his life, a true American fighting against his own blood and native land in defense of democracy and freedom.
